And I can think of nothing that makes my heart quiet more than the quiet Voice of the Lord.

Joan - What a wonderful testimony to the power of God's peace. I so admire you - turning to God and trusting in Him fully. And I just love the title Jehovah Shalom - He is certainly our Prince of Peace.

Anita - I loved your definition! Yes! The world's peace would say it is the absence of noise or trouble. The world would only recognize the storm. God's peace works best in troubles. Peace is found keeping one's eyes on Jesus, in the MIDST of the storm.

Ken - I absolutely loved what you had to say. I like how you pointed out that there is no defeat in the Lord - and that seems to me to be at the very heart of God's peace. All is conquered - even death. And because of Jesus, we are at peace (reconciled) with God.

Betty - I couldn't agree more. Yes, knowing that God is in control, and yielding to His sovereignty and His perfect purposes, is the secret to His peace. Living it is very hard. I'm also trying. God laid out the steps - Don't worry about anything, pray about everything - then peace will follow as we trust our loving Lord.

GOD BLESS!Sharonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00840994989201507494noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3168946904182381428.post-62443912962706265812011-05-13T21:14:08.418-07:002011-05-13T21:14:08.418-07:00God's peace is definitely different than the w...God's peace is definitely different than the world's idea of peace. I think the world thinks of peace as the absence of wars and strife, but there were just few short years in all of mankind that there wasn't a war being fought somewhere or strife not happening; I think Jesus warned of that when he said "when life goes bad"
(loosely paraphrased) instead of "if life goes bad".

Peace that transcends understanding, that when it doesn't make sense I have that trust in God that it makes sense to him and he is in control and knows what is best and is working. That's God's peace. Now living it sometimes is SOOOO very hard. But that's the peace I want.....

bettybettyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06323135450742337670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3168946904182381428.post-86763385458071374622011-05-13T20:35:27.466-07:002011-05-13T20:35:27.466-07:00Awesome questions Sharon.
Jesus gives us His peace...Awesome questions Sharon.
Jesus gives us His peace. In the world our peace is when there are no problems and everything is running smoothly. In His peace nothing can truly defeat us because He is with us. If the worst thing happens (we die) we are with Him forever. During our darkest hours He comforts us. When we joyfully serve Him we are blessed.
Have a blessed weekend,
KenKenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01778220319438098870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3168946904182381428.post-78086221341057258592011-05-13T19:54:10.831-07:002011-05-13T19:54:10.831-07:00peace. it does not mean to be in a place where th...peace. it does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. it means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.
And I am only calm in my heart because of what Christ has done for me.Anita Johnsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06581280313136512145noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3168946904182381428.post-51579445499001817952011-05-13T18:44:09.363-07:002011-05-13T18:44:09.363-07:00Hi Sharon:
God has proven to be my Jehovah Shalom...Hi Sharon:

God has proven to be my Jehovah Shalom many times, but one time in particular was when my husband was diagnosed with cancer a second time. His chances of survival (by medical standards) were not so good. I admit that I had a few days of anguish and fear, but when I (finally) broke down and prayed to God, peace like a river flooded my soul. It was the peace that passes all understanding, because in my flesh I could have never understood how I was so calm.

Blessings,
Joan

And yes, Blogger will not keep the Word of God from being spread here in blog land!Joan Hallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16430939897829160498noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3168946904182381428.post-23884382373453884252011-05-13T10:15:18.478-07:002011-05-13T10:15:18.478-07:00Peace to me - right now - with a ten year old and ...Peace to me - right now - with a ten year old and his mom here - would mean harmony between the ages - I know that is not what you mean - but for me that would be peace.Chatty Cronehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02232040517217024681noreply@blogger.com
