"FAN THE FLAME" FRIDAY - Childlike

Welcome to "Fan the Flame" Friday.

This is a weekly post that will be "short and sweet" (kinda like me...)

Just a word and a phrase, a sentence or a question...just a little something to "fan the flame" of your creativity!

Today's word: childlike

How would you define the word childlike?

What is the difference between being childlike and being childish?

What is childlike faith, and why do you think Jesus calls us to practice it?

Let me know what you think!!

"This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you…For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline." (2 Timothy 1:6-7)

  2. There is a lot of difference between child like and childish. I know Jesus didn't say we should all be childish but he did say we should be like a little child. Thank you for this thought provoking post.

  3. How would you define the word childlike?

Returning to an innocence of spirit that we possessed when we were young. Having a sense of wonder about the beauty of the world. Believing in the power of love.

What is the difference between being childlike and being childish?

Being childish is being selfish, concentrating on the things that make US happy. Insisting on having control. Being childlike is believing in the love of someone bigger than us who is able to take care of us. Trusting, relying on someone other than ourselves.

What is childlike faith, and why do you think Jesus calls us to practice it?

Childlike faith is believing with all of our hearts in the love of Jesus. It is approaching Him with all our concerns. It is being delighted in His presence, and secure in His providence. Jesus calls us to practice it because it reflects a pure love and devoted dependence on Him.

My *little girl* inside still adores Him...

    GOD BLESS!

"So [I] have been greatly encouraged in the midst of [my] troubles and suffering, dear brothers and sisters, because you have remained strong in your faith. It gives [me] new life to know that you are standing firm in the Lord. How [I] thank God for you!" (1 Thessalonians 3:7-9)
