"FAN THE FLAME" FRIDAY - Beginning

Welcome to "Fan the Flame" Friday.

This is a weekly post that will be "short and sweet" (kinda like me...)

Just a word and a phrase, a sentence or a question...just a little something to "fan the flame" of your creativity!

Today's word: beginning

Are you making any resolutions for the beginning of the new year?  (What are they?!)

Is there any new work that God is beginning in your life?  (What is it?!)

Let me know what you think!!

"But forget all that—
it is nothing compared to what I am going to do.
For I am about to do something new.
See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness.
I will create rivers in the dry wasteland."  (Isaiah 43:18-19, NLT)

"This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you…For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline." (2 Timothy 1:6-7)

  1. Why yes, I am resolved to begin something, but you'll have to wait to see what it is. Apparently, I'm beginning to be a tease...

I don't know what God is beginning in me or through me, but I have some hopes and prayers in that direction.

  2. Amen, Sharon! My heart leaped to read this - beginning new things this new year and hoping to have learned from all my trial and error in the old things from last year! Whew! Been a rough couple of years! But - what newness of faith begins through such times!

Back in Blogland today for the first time in a month - catching up with all . . .

    Joy!

  3. I think there might be a new beginning, but I really don't know what it might be; I just wonder if God is closing some doors because of new ones that might be opening; I'm just not sure what those new ones may be. How is that for evasive?

my resolution though is to get healthier spiritually and physically :)

    Happy New Year Sharon!

  7. A new work? Always! I am amazed at the way God is constantly doing something new in my life...teaching me, stretching me, closing old doors and opening new ones. I can't wait to see what He has in store for this new year, I know it will be something good!

  8. Are you making any resolutions for the beginning of the new year? (What are they?!)

Yup. I'd like to start a regular walking/exercise plan...and keep to it. And I would like to lose the pounds that I've gained back this year after working so hard to lose them in the first place and keeping them off for over a year and a half. (Insert deep breath) Can you tell that that one really bugs me?! I also would like to finish unpacking my boxes and finally move into my house.

Is there any new work that God is beginning in your life? (What is it?!)

I don't know what God has in mind for me right now at all. I am dabbling again in Blog Land, and I am enjoying that. But, I would love to have Him start a *new* work in my life this year. So, I'm asking Him: "What is it, Lord?!"

    GOD BLESS!

  9. Sharon- I love the thought of a new beginning! I love that bible verse, one of my favorites!
Hmmm...resolutions- writing daily for practice, 2 or more 1/2 Marathons, praying about taking the Church Counseling course.....new home, new neighbors, new life here!

Praying that God give you a heavenly nudge to the path he wants you to walk down....love you!

"So [I] have been greatly encouraged in the midst of [my] troubles and suffering, dear brothers and sisters, because you have remained strong in your faith. It gives [me] new life to know that you are standing firm in the Lord. How [I] thank God for you!" (1 Thessalonians 3:7-9)
