"FAN THE FLAME" FRIDAY - Determined

Welcome to "Fan the Flame" Friday.

This is a weekly post that will be "short and sweet" (kinda like me...)

Just a word and a phrase, a sentence or a question...just a little something to "fan the flame" of your creativity!

Today's word: determined

What does it mean to be determined?

What is something that you have determined to do in your life?  In your spiritual journey?

Why is the enemy determined to stop us - and how does he try?

Let me know what you think!!

"This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you…For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline." (2 Timothy 1:6-7)

  1. Hi Sharon,

He sure is determined to stop us by various means. Making us feel tired, apathetic, sorry for ourselves, depressed, sick, too busy with other things and so on, so that we don't pray, read the bible or fellowship as we should, or would want to.

Christ helps us/me to be determined to endure and run the race before us, with His Help and Light Shining In Front of us.

Hope you are ok, miss you, God Bless - Nita.

  2. This hit too close to home this morning, so I think I will just chew on it and not comment pass this point...I am determined not to give into the enemy!

  4. Determined is a good word. We are usually determined to please God, but satan is determined to keep us from it. We have to be more determined than he is.
    Blessings,

  5. What does it mean to be determined?

I like the word (synonym) undaunted. To me, being determined means to never give up, to never give in to the temptation to quit. It means a choice of will to do something, in spite of my feelings. It means a dogged effort to achieve something, which requires overcoming obstacles.

What is something that you have determined to do in your life? In your spiritual journey?

I've toyed with getting my Master's degree. But have not yet *determined* to do that! I suppose one thing I've determined to do in my life is to keep OFF the weight that I lost 3 years ago. In my spiritual journey, I have determined to stay in the Word on a daily basis - knowing that this also affects my faith stamina and endurance.

Why is the enemy determined to stop us - and how does he try?

The enemy is determined to stop us because he hates God - and therefore, he hates God's children. The devil wants to rule it all, and to the extent that we participate in advancing God's Kingdom, he must stop us. He tries in so many ways. A master of lies, self-deception, temptation - he uses every weapon at his disposal to thwart us, discourage us, defeat us. He wounds us at our most tender spots, and picks at every vulnerability.

Fortunately, he fights against the Holy Spirit who dwells within us.

Determined was my *word* for the year 2011.

This year, I am determined to OVERCOME!!

    GOD BLESS!

"So [I] have been greatly encouraged in the midst of [my] troubles and suffering, dear brothers and sisters, because you have remained strong in your faith. It gives [me] new life to know that you are standing firm in the Lord. How [I] thank God for you!" (1 Thessalonians 3:7-9)

Thanks for your comments - it is such a joy to be sharing my journey with friends like YOU!
