"FAN THE FLAME" FRIDAY - Season

Welcome to "Fan the Flame" Friday.

This is a weekly post that will be "short and sweet" (kinda like me...)

Just a word and a phrase, a sentence or a question...just a little something to "fan the flame" of your creativity!

Today's word: season

What is your favorite season of the year, and why?

Which season in your faith journey do you think you're in right now?  Explain.

What are some of the lessons of a wilderness season, a season of solitude, a desert season?

Let me know what you think!!

"This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you…For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline." (2 Timothy 1:6-7)

  1. I love the Springtime. It is full of new life and much hope. I am in my 50s so I appreciate God's word much more and understand it . I also recognize the many blessings around me.
Your words are thoughtful and I am happy I came by to share this with you! Thank you!

  2. Although my favorite season is the summer, I feel like we are almost through Winter and Spring is right around the corner. We have had a season ( a few years of Winter) and the SON is shining in our lives and I feel excited about what is coming! Hope you are well, friend!

  3. I'm in a season of wanting more. I have so much so I'm not talking about more things or even more friends or family time, but more of Him. Wanting to see my life count for his purposes and people being rescued from darkness and finding hope and his love. More desire to get to know him that actually gets translated into spending more time with him.

  4. We're just now entering my favorite season. Hubby, both our children and I all have birthdays in Oct and Nov. Then Thanksgiving, Christmas. Yep, this is my favorite, and the weather is great here this time of year. Spiritually, it's hard to tell where I am seasonally. I guess it all depends on how you look at it. Age-wise, it's winter for me. Actually the spirit doesn't age, so I guess I could say it is springtime in that category. All in all, it's a wonderful life.
    Blessings,
    Charlotte

  5. What is your favorite season of the year, and why?

My favorite season is summer. Call me weird (you can, many people have) - but I really like hot weather. (Yes, I know, I just moved to the mountains where it snows. But just think how happy I'm going to be next year in the summer!) I like the freedom I have in the summer to do things. I like wearing shorts and sandals. I like sleeping with the windows open.

Which season in your faith journey do you think you're in right now? Explain.

In my life, I'm probably in autumn (close to 60). In my faith journey, hmmm. That's a tough one. I think in some ways I'm in autumn in my faith journey, too. I feel like I've left a season of activity and involvement *down the hill* - and now I'm in a bit of a holding pattern. I feel that the Lord has new things for me to do, but I'm not sure what those things are. I feel change coming. I find myself hunkering down with the Lord, watching Him change my heart in preparation for the spring.

What are some of the lessons of a wilderness season, a season of solitude, a desert season?

Though I am not feeling depressed like I was at the beginning of my move up here to the mountains, I think there were (and continue to be) many lessons to be learned in the less *fun* seasons.

A wilderness season is a season of uncertainty, of wandering, of searching. And in a wilderness season, God does much preparation. Many of His leaders and saints were first led through a wilderness season before they stepped into His purposes. Think Moses, Joseph, Job, David - even Jesus Himself. But God always finds a way to meet us in that wilderness. People who seek Him in the wilderness...FIND HIM.

In a desert season, we are dry and thirsty. We are worn out by the heat of suffering or difficulties or temptation. Desert seasons can make us realize how desperate we are for the fount of Living Water. Sometimes, in a desert season, we are forced to crawl toward the oasis of God's Presence like never before.

A season of solitude can be either a good thing or a bad thing. Solitude doesn't necessarily mean loneliness. This is something I am beginning to discover. When I first moved up here, I felt very lonely. I felt ALONE. It was not a good feeling. But now, I am appreciating the solitude I have up here. There is a peace in my *remote* location. I am discovering that God can speak volumes in my solitude season. Sometimes I just have to be quiet enough to listen.

    GOD BLESS!

"So [I] have been greatly encouraged in the midst of [my] troubles and suffering, dear brothers and sisters, because you have remained strong in your faith. It gives [me] new life to know that you are standing firm in the Lord. How [I] thank God for you!" (1 Thessalonians 3:7-9)
