"FAN THE FLAME" FRIDAY - Light

Welcome to "Fan the Flame" Friday.

This is a weekly post that will be "short and sweet" (kinda like me...)

Just a word and a phrase, a sentence or a question...just a little something to "fan the flame" of your creativity!

Today's word: light

Of all the things that give off light, what is your favorite and why?

Jesus said, "I am the Light of the world."  What do you think He meant?

How can we show our *light* to the world in a more effective way?

Let me know what you think!!

"This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you…For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline." (2 Timothy 1:6-7)

  1. My favorite light? That one is actually easy for me. I love the light that shines from the Word. Really, I'm not being trite about that. There is nothing that lights my fire more than finding some treasure hidden deep in the pages that I had never seen before. It literally makes me leap up from my seat and sort of stomp around a bit.

  2. And for the record, I think your gift of words is a light to the world. Hide it under a bushel? No! I'm gonna let it shine... let it shine... let it shine... let it shine...

  3. Hi Sharon,

How are you going, miss seeing you on here as often. Light is something I could really do with at the moment, it is dull dreary and dark here, seems like typical Halloween weather. I do not like the darkness of Halloween, shine Jesus shine, comes to mind.

God Bless, please keep sharing - Nita

  4. I love the light that the sun gives out! The warmth on my skin, love it, as if God is sending a big hug! There is so much darkness, but it cannot be dark w/light and I believe that Jesus is hope and love , which is the light, and when there is light, it can't help but change the darkness. By loving others, forgiving, and by being nonjudgemental, we are sharing and BEing God's light!
    Love you!

Well, it's a close tie between the sun, the moon, and the stars. I love the sun, and the warmth it generates. I love lying and basking in it. I love a full moon. I love the way it shines a cool, gray light on the landscape. I love that I can actually look at it with my eyes. And yet, I also love the stars. I love the way they twinkle, and I love to think about how far away they are. I am always reminded that the LORD knows each one by name, and yet, He also knows me!

Jesus said, "I am the Light of the world." What do you think He meant?

Sin brings a darkness to the world. A cloud of imperfection, a blanket of evil. When Jesus came to the world, He brought the light of hope, of salvation, of rescue. I have the image of being lost in a darkened cavern, with nary a bit of light. And then, all of a sudden, the cavern is overwhelmed with floodlights, shedding blinding light into every corner. Nowhere to hide, all is bared to the light. And the light leads me out of the darkness into safety - leads me back home.

How can we show our *light* to the world in a more effective way?

We can look for chances to spread God's love to others, to speak of the Good News, and to live a life that brings joy and hope to others. We can enter into the darkness of others' lives by listening to their cares, taking the time to help them, and to offer comfort. We can show our light more effectively to the world by following the example of Jesus' life. Watch what the Light did - and do the same!

    GOD BLESS!

"So [I] have been greatly encouraged in the midst of [my] troubles and suffering, dear brothers and sisters, because you have remained strong in your faith. It gives [me] new life to know that you are standing firm in the Lord. How [I] thank God for you!" (1 Thessalonians 3:7-9)
