NEW CHANGES FOR 2013

So, a new year begins!

How does the time fly by so fast?  I know that I'm not getting any older...ahem.

This year I'm doing something different with my daily *quiet time* with the Lord.  I thought it might be interesting to read a little less Scripture, but to delve into each passage in a deeper way.

To aid this journey, I am taking these *tools* along for the ride:

A Year with Jesus, Making His Peace Your Peace, by R. P. Nettelhorst.

Life Application Study Bible Devotional, Daily Wisdom from the Life of Jesus, the Gospels, by David Veerman and Neil Wilson.

The One Year Experiencing God's Presence Devotional, 365 Daily Encounters to Bring You Closer to Him, by Chris Tiegreen.

Meet the Bible, A Panorama of God's Word in 366 Daily Readings and Reflections, by Philip Yancey and Brenda Quinn.

I'm also using three short prayer devotionals:

Grace for the Moment, from devotionals by Solly Ozrovech.

The Power of Prayer, by E. M. Bounds.

365 Pocket Prayers for Women, by Ronald A. Beers.

Check out the sidebar.

I'll have updates (hopefully daily), and you can also scope out my Word for 2013, and the verses that will prove inspiring as I seek God's direction in my life.

Looks like it's going to be a *pondering* year for me - (would you expect anything different?!?)

What new plans do you have for the upcoming year?

IMPORTANT:  I am conducting a poll - let me know your opinion and vote at the top of the sidebar.  Pretty please...with sugar on top!

P.S.  I realized that one of my options was a little misleading.  But when I tried to eliminate it, I had to start all over again.  Grrr.

As of 3:30 PM, PST, on Sunday (1/6), the votes were:

4 - Add photos
1 - No photos, keep things the same

Thanks for the ones that voted - sorry they got "uncounted" when I fixed the poll!!  I will remember them, though!  :)

(NOTE: Did anyone catch the redundancy of my title - NEW Changes for 2013.  Is there any such thing as OLD changes??  Hmmm.  LOL!)

  1. Hi Sharon, great way to go about your daily quiet times. Sometimes 'reading' too much scripture can be overwhelming. Love the encouragement

  2. I voted Sharon, I'm not sure if it took though because they said there was one vote and then I voted so there should be two votes but it said again one vote. But my vote is add photos but my thought is only add photos if you want to add photos. I'm cool either way. I like to look at photos, but if someone doesn't have photos that's okay too. Whatever you feel led to do I guess would be the best answer.

I like what you are doing with your quiet time this year. I think that's great to ponder a bit on the words of God. Its like not quantity of what is read but quality of what you get out of it. Should be a great year of learning and growth.

Have you heard of Jennifer Kennedy Dean? I'm doing her Bible study on prayer; wow, its opening up my eyes to prayer in new ways.

I'll be putting up my word of the year post probably late tonight :)

    1. No worries, Betty. I show that there are two votes. I appreciate your input!

  3. There is so much I could comment on here...your devotion to seeking God's Word...your cool tools, your great book list. But because I'm in the middle of a pt=roject and only stepped away from my task for a moment, I'll say that I found it hard to vote, there was no option to put photos in when YOU felt like it. (o;

    1. Oh Anita!! You make a good point! I'm on the fence about this - so I thought I'd get some outside opinions. However, today when I read my *options* - I thought the third option was a little confusing. But when I tried to eliminate it, I found that I could only do that by removing the gadget and starting ALL OVER AGAIN. Grr!!

So, sorry that your vote got "unvoted" - I have logged it in my mind, though! :)

  4. Sounds like it will be a rather interesting year Sharon. I've been trying to come with a different scripture reading plan myself for this year. Although I have enjoyed my read through the Bible in year plan, I want a different approach this year.

  5. Sharon,

I had this in your newest blog post on "Eddie" but I exceeded my limit so I cut it to paste it here...

I really love how you share what you plan to do!!! Always interests me!

HERE'S (the part I moved here where it really belongs):
I have one more comment about a consideration on your blog, other than photos (I was going to write this on your "New Changes for 2013" post but I won't have time at least today while I'm thinking of it)* well, I had to so now it's here... Do you use Blogger? Well, I'd like you to consider using PAGES for the wonderful EXTRAS in your sidebar and just keep adding there. Such as "EXPERIENCING GOD'S PRESENCE" or in the past your "Narnia"... so if I don't get over here each week that I do not miss out on those "gems" that you share... like the PRAYERS. I love them but often I miss them!!! and worse sometimes I cannot scroll down to see them all cuz it freezes on me... but with a PAGE on top, I could just click. It's not hard to do. (I maybe can help you or explain if you'd like)... Just a suggestion!

Thanks for all your wonderful comments over at one of my places, so glad that you stay in touch! I miss you and others.
But while you are hibernating, you could do more writing and draft to use as you are able to connect online. Just another thought.

Love to you and blessings on your plans for 2013! Not sure where or if you shared your One Word of DIRECTION but I think that's great! with Psalm 37:23 as your first verse with Proverbs 3:5-6 (probably all of them on your list for 2013 verses)! Those I would put under a PAGE called MY ONE WORD.
    (just another example)...
    Peace,
    Peggy

"So [I] have been greatly encouraged in the midst of [my] troubles and suffering, dear brothers and sisters, because you have remained strong in your faith. It gives [me] new life to know that you are standing firm in the Lord. How [I] thank God for you!" (1 Thessalonians 3:7-9)

Thanks for your comments - it is such a joy to be sharing my journey with friends like YOU!
