"FAN THE FLAME" FRIDAY - Heal

Welcome to "Fan the Flame" Friday.

This is a weekly post that will be "short and sweet" (kinda like me...)

Just a word and a phrase, a sentence or a question...just a little something to "fan the flame" of your creativity!

Today's word: heal

What does the word heal mean to you?

Do you have anything that you need God to heal - physically, emotionally, spiritually?  (Feel free to share...)

How does God heal us in ways that no one else can?

Let me know what you think!!

"O LORD, if you heal me, I will be truly healed; if you save me, I will be truly saved. My praises are for you alone!" (Jeremiah 17:14, NLT)

"He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds."
(Psalm 147:3, KJ 2000 Bible)

"But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5, NIV)

"This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you…For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline." (2 Timothy 1:6-7)

  1. I can not believe I'm the first one here. I guess everyone is crazy/summer busy.

I like this one. It has made me think.
I'll copy a thought from a friend of mine who likes to say that when God heals, he makes something whole. It might not be well in the earthly sense, but from His heavenly perspective, it is whole.

I have some things that need to be healed. I have obvious, physical problems that sure could use His hand. I have some other schtuff too, but I won't put it on here. Maybe an email when I'm feeling whiney or something. But then, I'm pretty sure you know the areas that are ailing me.

  2. I have prayed often for physical healing. Just tonight, in fact. But I am reminded so often that while physical healing would be amazing, I'll take spiritual healing over the physical and emotional. Martin Luther King said, "Only in the darkness can you see the stars." God has blessed me with many stars in spite of the pain. And many times He has healed me "in the moment" and for that I'm very thankful.

  4. Heal...awesome word. Last night I fiddled around making a video (posted on my blog) and as I did.....using the pics we took from His creation...I had this overwhelming sense....of healing in nature. He's there...alive...real...in everything I see....and feel and smell....and touch. His awesomeness everywhere in nature. It's where I feel truly alive and free.

    1. Anita, I'm so sorry...

"And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died." (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14, NLT)

May God bless your heart today.

  6. Hi Sharon,

I feel so many are in need of healing, so many afflicated by sickness, be it physical, emotional, spiritual - Yes we all need to be made whole and to maybe get our afflictions in proportion and know what their root is. Think Kerrie needs prayer especially today, she was on facebook earlier sharing that she is in very bad pain in her back and unable to move from her bed.

  7. Healing is what we all pray for in one way or another. "Help me so I can do your work and not be distracted by pain, worry, etc."
But be we can also be an instrument of healing to the people we know. That's how God works, I think. We are his hands and feet.

    Peace in Christ,
    Ceil

  8. To me, "heal" means to be made whole again...or to be made "right" with God. I have gone through several seasons where I needed healing and am so thankful that our heavenly Father had the patience, love and compassion to see me through.

    Blessings, Joan

  9. What does the word heal mean to you?

It means to take away the pain of something. To restore wholeness. To make something new again.

Do you have anything that you need God to heal - physically, emotionally, spiritually? (Feel free to share...)

Right now, I need God to heal my broken spirit. There are emotional hurts that I'm having trouble dealing with - and I need God to heal all the broken pieces.

How does God heal us in ways that no one else can?

Because He can quite literally get to the *heart* of the matter, His healing is different than anything the world can offer. He has healed the rift that came between us when we sinned. He brings supernatural peace and comfort to broken hearts, crushed spirits, and bodies that are hurting. He alone can fill up the empty places.

    GOD BLESS!

"So [I] have been greatly encouraged in the midst of [my] troubles and suffering, dear brothers and sisters, because you have remained strong in your faith. It gives [me] new life to know that you are standing firm in the Lord. How [I] thank God for you!" (1 Thessalonians 3:7-9)
