Welcome to "Fan the Flame" Friday.
This is a weekly post that will be "short and sweet" (kinda like me...)
Just a word and a question (or few)…just a little something to
"fan the flame" of your creativity!
And, to further fan those faith-filled flames (try saying that 10 times in a row!) – I'm adding my favorite devotional from the week!
Today's word: value
What does the word value mean to you?
What is one thing that you value about yourself? (C'mon - you know there's something...)
What are the things that God places value on?
How might we learn to value ourselves as God values us?
"And He died for all, so that all those who live might live no longer to and for themselves, but to and for Him Who died and was raised again for their sake. Consequently, from now on we estimate and regard no one from a [purely] human point of view [in terms of natural standards of value]."

"But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value. If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward." (1 Corinthians 3:13-14, NLT)
"But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God." (Acts 20:24, ESV)
"Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows." (Luke 12:7, ESV)

I am beyond thankful that God looks on our inside worth, instead of outside, like the world does.

ReplyDeleteI too VALUE YOU! value for me = worth! I use to value my easy going nature to make friends, but not as much anymore. So I'll second the one that Chatty Crone shared... because I really do VALUE you and all you share here and at my place with me. You are priceless! I so value that God crossed our journeys!
And oh my goodness, what God values? YOU! and me and each of us as His creation and masterpiece in progress ... yet some of the ones that come to me right off are: honesty, relationship, all the fruit of the Spirit (of course), oh let's just go with
Phil. 4:8 "...whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things..." I'm surprised that was not with your verses!
WOW ... and that last question ... takes an extra ounce of unconditional vision... (like love) for I am my worst enemy and highly critical of myself. I expect more of myself than what I've been or done.
So maybe if I was or did ... I would value me as I do YOU and some other dear blog friends (that I've never even met that treat me dearer and kinder than family so...) ... Here's to God that He helps me find the value in me that He sees! I'm so glad I have someone like you to value and keep me going.

ReplyDeleteWhen I think of value I think of "worth" and "treasure".
We are worthless without Him, and of immeasurable worth IN Him. And to think, he calls us His "treasure" - now how is that for being valued. Thank you for this good devotional.

When I think of value I think of of honesty and being a good ethical person. I value these qualities in the way I was raised and I think God excepts these things from us in order to follow Him. I know so many people who go thru the motions and attend church and yet cheat on their hours at the office and live not up to His standards and yet think they are good people. It really bothers me.

I started my catch up here because I knew that I had missed it. I sort of fell off the planet for the past several days for a variety of reasons, not the least of which was that Whimsy was coming home and I needed to get things ready for some mother/daughter time.

What does the word value mean to you?
ReplyDeleteIt means something of worth. It means something worth having, something worth saving.

I value my caring heart. For the most part, I believe I am an empathetic person who genuinely tries to put myself into other people's situations.
What are the things that God places value on?
God values our hearts. He places value on the fruit of the Spirit. He places great value on His children, and on their salvation.
How might we learn to value ourselves as God values us?
Read His Word! The Bible is FULL of the story of His love for us. We must refuse to believe the enemy's lies - whether he tells us we are nothing but worms, or that we are little gods.
