Welcome to "Fan the Flame" Friday.
This is a weekly post that will be "short and sweet" (kinda like me...)
Just a word and a phrase, a sentence or a question...just a little something to "fan the flame" of your creativity!
Today's word: resurrection
What does the word resurrection mean?
How does resurrection differ from re-creation and reincarnation?
What difference does Jesus’ resurrection make in your life?
(I have chosen this word in honor of my aunt, who just recently passed away, and to remember all the loved ones we so eagerly await seeing again someday in the presence of our Lord!)
Let me know what you think!!
"This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you…For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline." (2 Timothy 1:6-7)
BLOG = "Blessedly Leaning On God!"
It means LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pure and simple...life in its original form...where we worship to the full extent, how life was before sin entered the world...oh I look so forward to that day
ReplyDeleteOk, well I saw this four hours ago but was waiting for someone else to jump in first. Maybe we're all doing the same thing?
ReplyDeleteI am so afraid that someone will jump in and tell me I'm wrong this time.
I know that resurrection is a rising up. It implies or requires a death of the flesh. I can't resurrect without the prerequisite of being dead. I believe that we have one kind of resurrection when Christ transforms us from dead men walking to children alive in Christ. I also believe in the resurrection of the dead in Christ to glorified bodies.
I guess in re creation, there is a whole new and distinctly different creation. It would be like God creating a whole new Debbie. (Oh good grief...) To me, God re creates the HEART when we receive Him. It's a heart transplant from Jesus to us. The fact that that new heart has to abide with our old flesh is that pesky matter of sanctification.
Reincarnation... that's the belief that our soul inhabits another host body, right? Since I don't believe in it, I admit to being kind of ignorant about it.
That's the best that I can do.
Now, my shoulder hurts. I need that glorified body...
OK. What Janette said.
ReplyDeleteJust scratch mine.
Blessings Sharon... Powerful WORD and like Debbie said much to ponder and wait to see what others may say... naw, not for me.. This is an extremely deep word... but having only glanced at the previous so as not to loose my train of thought and my first impression (no, that was another day;s post)... to write right away what came to my mind... JESUS!
ReplyDeleteResurrection = revive (revival), renew (renewal), resuscitate ...to come back to life and rebirth (be born again... not really but to be ALIVE once again. To RISE UP... yes, that's the final choice... to resurge, or revitalize, which most of my previous words cover. Jesus rose again and came back to LIFE! Our lives can be redeemed in that Resurrection!!! Hallelujah!
Now, what were the other questions?
I totally forgot them... but I think I vaguely remember some yucky stuff like reincarnation or re-creation, which mean nothing to me. For I put all my faith in the ONE and ONLY, Resurrection of Jesus Christ and those who believe in Him that one day will be reunited. Lots of RE- in this response... but that is my HOPE that I depend on...RE- AGAIN... BACK AGAIN, yes to re- enJOY all our loved ones to be in the Presence of the Almighty. The greatest re-birth available and the complete healing of all this world burdened us with... to be totally ALIVE in CHRIST! To rise up with Him and give all our praises and worship to the Only Creator and Healer, the Lord God Almighty, RESURRECTED and seated at the right hand of the Father... true GLORY and TRUE LIFE ETERNALLY! Yes, that is the Resurrection the best celebration EVER!
See ya' there...
Love and hugs,
Peggy
Resurrection to me means hope. Where would we be without hope? I don't even like to think about it.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Charlotte
Death to life!
ReplyDeleteWONDERFUL!!
ReplyDeleteDebbie, thank you for sharing such an in-depth look at this word. I was truly enlightened by your thoughts. And Peggy, you added so much more, too.
The rest of you also mentioned the crucial aspect of the word resurrection - it is LIFE!
To take a dead thing and make it alive - and, in the case of we believers, made alive again for eternity!
PRAISE GOD!
All made possible when hope began in an empty tomb...
GOD BLESS!
