Welcome to "Fan the Flame" Friday.

This is a weekly post that will be "short and sweet" (kinda like me...)

Just a word and a phrase, a sentence or a question...just a little something to "fan the flame" of your creativity!

Today's word: lie

What would you say a lie is?

What damage can a lie do?

What is the biggest lie that Satan tells you?

Let me know what you think!!

"This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you…For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline." (2 Timothy 1:6-7)

BLOG = "Blessedly Leaning On God!"

  1. I guess it's anything in opposition to truth. I think a lie can include things that are said, not said, half said, implied, or twisted. There's probably more, but I can't think of it right now.

The Father of All Lies has spoken so many whoppers to me that it's hard to single out just one. I guess his most common one is that God doesn't really have a plan for me and I'm just a big old nothing.

  2. I don't like to lie - but I have - I hate to hurt people. sandie

  3. Oh my!!! Well I posted this morning then later came post answers this one! We seem to be on the same path

  4. A lie, is untruthful words or actions. Lies can do much damage to a heart, and to a life. The biggest lie that satan constantly tells me, is that I am not worthy.

    1. Dearest Denise,
The truth of the matter is that none of us is worthy. But Jesus is. And HE deemed us worthwhile. We were WORTH dying for...

Whenever Satan tries to perpetrate this particular lie on my heart, I turn to the wounded hands and feet of my ultimately WORTHY Savior.

      HIS Love overcomes the lie...

  5. Since Satan is the father of lies, it seems he will stop at nothing to deceive us. I think he usually tells us lies in areas we are the likeliest to believe them.

    1. I love that. I think you're right that he tells us what we're most likely to believe. That being the case, I need to build up faith in those areas where he most often attacks. That's was good!

  6. A lie is anything contrary to the truth...When applied to the lies that the deceiver tells us, it is anything that is not what God tells us. The deceiver wants to discourage and demoralize us...he tries to tell us that we are worthless. However, the words of Truth are from our Lord! His words encourage us as He reminds us that we are redeemed, loved, valued, adored and saved! Thank God!

  7. People sometimes have a hard time determining what a lie is. Politically someone says someone else didn't tell the truth. If asked if they lied, they hesitate to say it was a lie but if it was not the truth but was untrue, then I think that qualifies as a lie. Sometimes though someone will say something they honestly believe is the truth. Then I don't think you could say they lied. They just believed a lie. Satan, the father of lies, is well qualified to deceive.

"So [I] have been greatly encouraged in the midst of [my] troubles and suffering, dear brothers and sisters, because you have remained strong in your faith. It gives [me] new life to know that you are standing firm in the Lord. How [I] thank God for you!" (1 Thessalonians 3:7-9)
