Welcome to "Fan the Flame" Friday.
This is a weekly post that will be "short and sweet" (kinda like me...)
Just a word and a phrase, a sentence or a question...just a little something to "fan the flame" of your creativity!
Today's word: redeem
What does the word redeem mean?
Besides salvation, how does God redeem things?
What is one situation in your life in which God directly worked to redeem something?
Let me know what you think!!
"This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you…For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline." (2 Timothy 1:6-7)
BLOG = "Blessedly Leaning On God!"
Bought with a price.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I know that's the Bible 101 answer but it just doesn't get much better than that, IMO.
As to what He redeems, the list is a long one. My favorite of all comes from a passage in Joel when he say, "I will redeem the years the locusts have eaten." I love that promise because I have allowed the locust to devour so many years and opportunities. I would wallow in grief and despair about that if I didn't see time and time again that He is faithful to his word and brings fruit from those lost seasons even still.
Redeem-Bought with a heavy price, His redeeming blood. He bought me with His precious, priceless redeeming blood.
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon,
ReplyDeleteJust passing by, still have lots of computer problems etc.
Like the comment above from Denise about redemption. We talked about this a bit at my group too. I need to think more about my life and at the moment, things are overtaking me a bit and my computer is not reliable.
Hope things are improving all round for you.
Take care and have a blessed weekend.
Well, to me, redeem is more than salvation. I mean, that is the "biggie" of course. But, I think redeem speaks volumes in the believer's life...you know, the one who has fallen into temptation and become the lost lamb. But God in His relentless pursuit of us will redeem us, forgive our sins and put us BACK into a right relationship with Him. That is my story of redemption and I am forever grateful for His mercy and love! Blessings, Joan
ReplyDeleteRedeem is a good one, Sharon! Redeem to me means ransoming, rescuing. Hard to describe. I am glad Jesus redeemed me from the life I should have had and gives my eternal life!
ReplyDeletehope all is going as well as it can go
betty
Redeemed from a life that was not worth living into a life that is worth living:)
ReplyDeleteHe redeemed everything in my life. Completely changed it and made it awesome. Thanks Sharon. Hope your weekend is great.
ReplyDeleteI think it is to make new - to see the good from the bad. sandie
ReplyDeleteI know that redemption--the price Jesus paid for my sins--has changed what my life could have been into what it is. I stand in awe of this gift. Reminds me of a song:
ReplyDeleteI stand amazed in the presence of Jesus, the Nazerene.
And wonder how He could love me -- a sinner condemned unclean.
But He did--and does--love me. Redemption! A beautiful word.
It's a very poor comparison, but the thought came to my mind that I redeemed green stamps and blue chip stamps back in the 50s, 60s & 70s. People would stand in line at the redemption centers to exchange their stamps for something they wanted. It was fun. We kind of felt like we were getting free stuff. Christ's redemption gives us freedom. Wow. Redemption is a wonderful thing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing on Spiritual Sundays.
Blessings,
Charlotte
He redeemed me when I didn't deserve his love and continues to give and give and give again-love, acceptance, forgiveness, grace and beauty of a life worth living. Redeemed, how I love to proclaim it...that's a hymn I haven't thought of for a long time.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
