"FAN THE FLAME" FRIDAY - Holy Spirit

Welcome to "Fan the Flame" Friday.

This is a weekly post that will be "short and sweet" (kinda like me...)

Just a word and a phrase, a sentence or a question...just a little something to "fan the flame" of your creativity!

Today's word: Holy Spirit

How would you describe the Holy Spirit - His character, His purpose, His work?

How would you describe the still, small voice of the Holy Spirit?

How does the Holy Spirit work in your life?

Let me know what you think!!

"But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you." (John 14:26, NIV)

"This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you…For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline." (2 Timothy 1:6-7)

  1. Holy Spirit....the power that helps...that speaks as clear and sure as the sun rises and sets...the One that breaths hope and peace and love into my soul.
Hey Sharon....hope you have an amazing day out there....He's with you so no matter what happens.....you're not alone.

  2. Holy Spirit... my inner voice, encouraging, prompting, convicting, strengthening, reminding, leading... and in all of it, empowering to DO what God wants me to do.

Good word choice. God sure thought so when He left the Holy Spirit to walk within us as He left this world.

    Have a great weekend Sharon!

  3. I would describe Holy Spirit as my inner guide that leads, instructs, and convicts me.

  4. I'm late to class, Mrs. Kirby, but I have a good excuse. I was road tripping to see both of my daughters yesterday and didn't get back until today.

You can call my mommy if you don't believe me.

Now, as for the Holy Spirit, I think of Him as the One who moved into my heart and is the re-decorator. He's the the One who tells me what needs to go permanently and what needs to be put aside for a season. He's the one who nudges me to clean the place up, to tear down and build up, etc.

As to the still, small voice, I can hear the Voice best when MY VOICE gets the clue and provides the stillness.

  6. Holy Spirit is our comforter, our defender, our communicator with the Father. Hearing his voice comes in the stillness. He works in my life daily. To guide and help me. To empower me. To pray for me spirit to spirit.

  7. The Holy Spirit is the power that worketh in us. Acts 1:8: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

  8. The Holy Spirit prays through us according to God's will, when we know not how to pray. He is our comforter, guide, and inner voice to keep us close to Jesus.

  9. How would you describe the Holy Spirit - His character, His purpose, His work?

If God is like my Father, and Jesus is like my Friend, I think of the Holy Spirit as my cheerleader in a way. He is the One who gives counsel and wisdom, He cautions and convicts and challenges me, and He cheers me on my way. He is like the wind behind me, moving me in the direction that I need to go. His purpose is to point me to the Savior, and to make the Word of God come alive. He is working to sanctify me, to make me look like Jesus.

How would you describe the still, small voice of the Holy Spirit?

It's like a thought or an idea that comes to my mind, completely independent of anything I've thought of on my own. It's something that prods me, or compels me in a certain direction. It's an inner *sense* - and His Voice is always recognizable because it consistently lines up with the heart of Jesus, and with the Word of God.

How does the Holy Spirit work in your life?

He keeps me on the straight and narrow! He prays with me when I cannot find words. He gives me strength and power. He teaches me, and gives me insight and understanding. In all His ways, He guides me to the feet of Christ. And there, He teaches me peace.

    GOD BLESS!

"So [I] have been greatly encouraged in the midst of [my] troubles and suffering, dear brothers and sisters, because you have remained strong in your faith. It gives [me] new life to know that you are standing firm in the Lord. How [I] thank God for you!" (1 Thessalonians 3:7-9)
