"FAN THE FLAME" FRIDAY - Good
Welcome to "Fan the Flame" Friday.
This is a weekly post that will be "short and sweet" (kinda like me...)
Just a word and a phrase, a sentence or a question...just a little something to "fan the flame" of your creativity!
Today's word: good
What do you think the word good means?
In what ways can something bad (in earthly terms) be something good (in eternal ways)?
Explain what this phrase means to you: "God is good, all the time."
What is good about Good Friday?
Let me know what you think!!
"And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them." (Romans 8:28, NLT)
"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep." (John 10:11, NLT)
"This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you…For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline." (2 Timothy 1:6-7)

"So [I] have been greatly encouraged in the midst of [my] troubles and suffering, dear brothers and sisters, because you have remained strong in your faith. It gives [me] new life to know that you are standing firm in the Lord. How [I] thank God for you!" (1 Thessalonians 3:7-9)
Thanks for your comments - it is such a joy to be sharing my journey with friends like YOU!

"Good" is a good word, but it will never be 'good' enough to get us into heaven. I am reminded of how many say they think they have lived 'good' lives and hope that will be enough. That's the wrong kind of good. The kind I love is the kind that God said... 'all things work together for GOOD, to those of us who know Him. If He said ALL things, that's exactly what He meant. What a hope!
ReplyDeleteHave a GOOD Easter Sharon!
xo
I think Christ's being crucified is the perfect example of something being earthly bad but eternally good. In the natural it would be hard to call that experience good but oh what good it brought to the world
ReplyDeleteI added a P.S. but I think it disappeared. Because of GOOD FRIDAY, my life was forever changed, and yours, and all who know Him. I am always sad on Good Friday until Sunday morning comes. He arose, and that is the best GOOD news there ever was!
ReplyDeleteJesus, the good news, the best news in my life.
ReplyDeleteThe suffering He endured tears me up, but the love message of redemption covers all.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter, Sharon!
Interesting questions. Do you do this every Friday? Thank you for stopping over. Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteYes, I do this every Friday. So glad you stopped by today - and would love to have you visit again!
DeleteGOD BLESS!
What do you think the word good means?
ReplyDeleteIn earthly terms, good usually means to me something that isn't best or perfect. But, when I think of the word in spiritual terms, it always means the ultimate BEST! Goodness is the perfect holiness of God.
In what ways can something bad (in earthly terms) be something good (in eternal ways)?
We are told in Scripture that our present sufferings are leading to eternal rewards. We are encouraged by the hope that troubles will not last forever, and they are leading to a future glory. It is God's purpose working behind the scenes that can turn (earthly) bad into something (eternally) good!
Explain what this phrase means to you: "God is good, all the time."
It means to me that God's goodness is perfect. And when He doesn't SEEM good, it's just because of my limited perspective. This is a phrase that I must strive to believe no matter what - for the opposite is the great lie of the enemy - that God isn't good. To believe in God's goodness always, is to surrender to His sovereignty and trust in His purposes and His timing.
What is good about Good Friday?
Well, we know, don't we?! The greatest defeat that the devil thought he had won, was nothing more than God *in disguise* - waiting for the perfect moment to storm the gates of hell and defeat death and the grave. Eternal life was bought at a great cost on Good Friday, but the reward was the glory of Resurrection Sunday!!
GOD BLESS!
