Welcome to "Saturday Stroll!"

In these posts I will be interacting with Scripture - making it a conversational walk of faith.

Sometimes we'll be talking with Jesus, and sometimes God will be talking with us.

There might even be *guest appearances* by some of our beloved characters from the Bible!

So put on your walking shoes - you know we can all use the exercise!

Sometimes God calls us to leave…

A comfortable emotional place, a complacent attitude in our faith, an easy background role – and sometimes a literal physical location.

And when God calls us to leave, He speaks…

It is time to leave your native country, your relatives, your friends, your comfort zone – and go into the land that I will show you.

But Lord, I am unfamiliar with this territory.
I'm not good with change.

I will make you great.
I will bless you, and you will be a blessing to others.

I want that, Lord.
But I'm scared.

Do not be afraid.
I have defeated your enemies for you.

Yes, really.
I will protect you and your reward will be great.

So, where do I go from here?

Do as I tell you.
I will be with you and bless you.

Thank You, Lord.

Now, I hereby confirm that I will give all these new lands to you.
And I do not break My promises.

You stand on Your name – the LORD.

I am the LORD, the God of Abraham, and Isaac.
I am giving this new territory to you.

It's still scary.

I know.

But you will not walk a step without Me.
And I will not leave you until I have finished giving you everything I have promised you.

Surely the Lord is in this place, and I wasn't even aware of it.
Where He leads, I will follow.

And when you follow, I will make the way clear.

I trust You, Lord.

What an awesome place this is!
It is none other than the place where God is.

Yes, and I will accompany you into uncharted waters and unfamiliar places.

God will indeed be with me and protect me on this journey.
I will present to God everything He gives me.

I am ready, Lord…

BLOG = "Blessedly Leaning On God!"

  1. You are so precious, be blessed.

  2. I smiled as I read this for a variety of reasons. I like the picture that I have in my mind of the Golden Girl with the cowboy hat strolling along as God talks to her as He did Abram all those many, many years ago.

Moving from the known to the unknown is as old as our story, basically, isn't it?

    1. Ohhh yeah Debbie! I like your visual!!! It sure is as old as our story... good insight!

  3. Ooooooooooo God is speaking!!!

Blessings Sharon... how precious are your strolls with Our LORD, the God of Abraham, and Isaac...way back in the book of Genesis, ahhh the beginning or was it? Since you are doing this chronologically?

Hold on to what He tells you and reveals!

    Praying and believing,
    (BIG HUG)Peggy

  4. Love this, Sharon! I'm back to the beginning of my One Year Bible reading and just finished Abraham's story so I've been thinking on this, too. Faith, Hope, Trust - and all with the Lord as my focus - forsaking comfort zones. Tough one! I gave my notice and don't have anything on my calendar to suggest that I'll have an income in for the second half of this year. Leaving Ur for the Promised Land though I don't know what it looks like yet.

Speaking of looking like - I LOVE the LOOK of your new blog. Ed and I are parcel to weathered wood and old barns and the rustic thing. Warm and cozy - life lived - something settled, tested, and established. Too bad it comes with baggage - no choice in font colors - but to be sure - I think it all looks swell!

    Joy to you!

  5. That is true Sharon and sometimes God asks us to stay in hard circumstances too for reasons we don't know. Love, sandie

  6. Strolling with you is always a pleasure. Sharon. I have been reading through the book of Genesis myself.

  7. I learn so much on my strolls with you. I love the promise that we will not take one step without God. I wish I could have met Abraham. He sure had an exciting life walking with God.

  8. Thank you for a beautiful stroll. God's promises are always true, and though sometimes we are afraid, we can stand on the promises of God! Great post!

  9. I love the way you and God communicate, the way we all can, but sometimes we don't think of our thoughts as being direct conversation with him or we miss what he's been saying to us. Abraham is a great example of obeying even when we don't see the outcome and knowing God enough to trust him.
I want my heart to be positioned that way.

  10. Very beautiful, thanks for sharing those thoughts and words. Blessings ~

  11. Beautiful thoughts. It is so much better to be where God wants us than where we think we want to be. Many times we find out that where God has led us is exactly where we want to be. That has happened to me.

"So [I] have been greatly encouraged in the midst of [my] troubles and suffering, dear brothers and sisters, because you have remained strong in your faith. It gives [me] new life to know that you are standing firm in the Lord. How [I] thank God for you!" (1 Thessalonians 3:7-9)

Thanks for your comments - it is such a joy to be sharing my journey with friends like YOU!
