Welcome to "Fan the Flame" Friday.

This is a weekly post that will be "short and sweet" (kinda like me...)

Just a word and a phrase, a sentence or a question...just a little something to "fan the flame" of your creativity!

Today's word: hope

I can think of no greater word to ponder on this Christmas Eve than the word hope!

What hope does the birth of Jesus bring you?

Let me know what you think!!

“This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you…For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” (2 Timothy 1:6-7)

BLOG = "Blessedly Leaning On God!"

  1. Merry Christmas! May God Bless You.

  2. Without Jesus, I was doomed to the wrath of God; with Jesus I have hope of eternal life with him! It is that hope of eternal life that gets me through the dark moments of life. Without that hope, what a sad world this would be.

    Merry Christmas Sharon and family!

  3. Hi Sharon -

Early this a.m., I said out loud, "Jesus Christ the hope of glory." And now I am here and you have the word "hope."

    Well, more hope here:

    Psalm 42:5 - KJV
...hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.

    Hebrews 6:19 - KJV
Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast,...

    Psalm 119:114 - KJV
Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.

Thank you, Sharon, for reminding us WHO gives us hope.

Sidebar: If you are so inclined, please
re-visit the topic that I posted today, "GOD'S "IN YOUR FACE" MEMO TO SATAN" to read the UPDATE" that I added.

Thank you, Sharon, for your consideration.

  4. Hope is my middle name, so it has a special place in my heart. But, my hope in Jesus is my reason to follow Him into a deeper relationship with Him!

    Without hope, we are stagnant!

Merry Christmas to you and your family!

  5. you always give every post you write. Thank you for that and Sharon...I hope your Christmas is the best...cause I think you're the best!!!

  6. Just checking in with a cup of cocoa and a few minutes before church.

To me, it's anticipation with expectation.
It's greater than a wish or dream, it's a future reality, if that makes sense.

That's all I've got. I'm a year older today and apparently not as sharp as I used to be. Just wanted to wish one of my favorite Golden Girls a very MERRY CHRISTMAS.

And that recipe for coffee punch in on my blog somewhere. I'll find it.

AND... You'll be glad to know that though the little gold shoes were not decoupaged, the actual name cards were. So there.

    Have a blessed holiday!

  7. JT - Thanks for stopping by. And a very MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and yours, too!

Betty - Eternal life, the one great HOPE that holds our hearts together in peace! Through all the ups and downs of life. It's a tough enough world without that hope, isn't it?! So, I'm with you - celebrating the HOPE that was born in a manger!

Sandra - Well, of course you would say that! We are so often on the same wavelength! Great additional verses! HOPE - the anchor of our souls. I LOVED THAT! (I did visit you earlier - good stuff as always!)

Alisa - How lovely to have that as your middle name. Such a pretty name, and such a precious promise. I liked your thought - without hope, we are stagnant. I agree - it is HOPE that gives life its vibrancy, its purpose, its future...

Sarah - Oh, my friend. Thank you. If I give you HOPE, you give me courage! I eagerly look forward to sharing our journeys in 2011! I just know that God has BIG plans coming!

Debbie - Thanks for stopping by, friend! I really loved your definition - anticipation with expectation. YES! It's not just waiting - it's waiting with a purpose, waiting on a promise - waiting on "tiptoes" while staring at the sky - knowing He is coming back. Hope you had a wonderful birthday (sent you a quickie email - it's the best I could do - gifts don't want to go through the Internet...just sayin') I'm not appreciating the "not as sharp" remark, though. According to me, what I lost in my 40's came back strong in my 50's! (It didn't - but it sure felt good to say that...) Would love the recipe for coffee punch - meanwhile, I'm drinking my little heart out with my instant cappucino mix in like 10 flavors. Yum. Re: decoupage...I should have guessed!

My dearest blog buddies - I can't thank you enough for taking the time to stop by on this very busy day. One of my favorite quotes about HOPE comes from the movie, The Shawshank Redemption. "HOPE is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies."

How true! Jesus, THE HOPE OF THE WORLD, lives! And because of Him, we will live an eternity in His Presence - no pain, no sadness, no death, no evil! Now that is the BEST of things - that is HOPE indeed!

Wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas!

  8. Without Christ, there is no hope! Life would not be worth living....I have often thought how sad it would be to not have the hope of our Lord and many lost without this hope! Not a minute goes by that I do not think about Jesus in one way or life revolves around Him!

Merry Christmas, Sharon!! ...and YES, bring your jammies and teddy bear on would fit right in!! LOL!! :D

  9. Carolyn - Honestly, what do people even MEAN when they talk about HOPE apart from the Lord? It seems so vacant without His Light and Life, doesn't it? I feel so sad for the many, many people that wander around lost - in every sense of the word. I pray for more opportunities to get God's Good News out...a message of love, a message of HOPE indeed.

Oh YAY! I'll be over as soon as I can!

"So [I] have been greatly encouraged in the midst of [my] troubles and suffering, dear brothers and sisters, because you have remained strong in your faith. It gives [me] new life to know that you are standing firm in the Lord. How [I] thank God for you!" (1 Thessalonians 3:7-9)

Thanks for your comments - it is such a joy to be sharing my journey with friends like YOU!
