"FAN THE FLAME" FRIDAY - Coincidence

Welcome to "Fan the Flame" Friday.

This is a weekly post that will be "short and sweet" (kinda like me...)

Just a word and a phrase, a sentence or a question...just a little something to "fan the flame" of your creativity!

Today's word: coincidence

What does the word coincidence mean?

Do you think there's a difference between a coincidence and a "divine appointment"?

What is one time when you knew that a coincidence truly came from the hand of God?

Let me know what you think!!

"This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you…For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline." (2 Timothy 1:6-7)

  1. I don't really believe in "coincidences"! Instead, I call them "God-incidences"! Everything happens for a reason and is somehow part of His plan. There are so many times these have happened in my life and as I type this I'm trying to think of just one to post, but they are too numerous! Oh, I do have a little one. A couple of years ago I was trying to decide if I should start a blog and if I did, what I would write about. I knew I wanted my blog to be about God, but wasn't sure what I had to say was worth writing, you know? Anyway, only moments after praying about it (while I was driving), a car drove past me. Guess what the lisence plate said? It said, "Write It". Hmmm. That was too funny to be a "coincidence". I know it was a God-incidence and I've been writing ever since.

    Have a great weekend, Sharon!

    Blessings, Joan

  2. I think they are God Winks from God!

  3. "A man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps" - now, if the Lord is directing - then nothing is unplanned here - therefore, in God's economy - is there really coincidence?
May not be visiting much over the next few days - keep us in prayer as we ride out the storm - and the aftermath. Aftermath has the potential to be worse than the storm!
    Joy!

  4. Blessings Sharon... all I have to say has been said so I say "DITTO" to Joan... love & appreciate the incidence she shared. I know God's divine signs are meant to feed our fuel and push us onward with HOPE in Christ. I really like "winks from God"... that certainly applies to the sense of humor one that He gave you.

CO INCIDENCE =together in an event or occurrence
or COIN ci dence must have to do with money on the dense side like me... but I still don't believe in them, no matter how you divide it.

By "divine appointment", I was thinking of the divine signs...'a meeting' which was inspired and God led. God is sovereign; He is all knowing and all-powerful. The possibilities of divine appointments are endless! If we are willing to be led by the Holy Spirit, great things are possible. The Bible is FULL of Divine appointments. Esther is my favorite one!
Time after time God leads the faithful to cross another person’s path and great things happen! (I think many times Sandra (lioneagle)has a word that is divine and as a matter of fact, so do you when you comment at my place).

My being in this exact location in Mexico was a God-incidence with SUSANA... my 108 yo inspiration (I have a blog post on her because she was that significant).

When we walk with Jesus, all things are possible in Him... and He takes us to incidences beyond our comprehension because we are CO heirs with Him. So that make them COINCIDENCES by His Spirit...

    Love and peace,
    Peggy

  5. Hi Sharon,

Thinking of you - I love the comment on here from your friend Chatty Crone - I think they are God winks from God. I do too.

  6. Oh Joan - What a moment! See, I just love that! GOD-incidences, what a great way to put it! Interesting that your "sign" came while driving along too - just like the last two "signs" I've had. What's next? A billboard?! :)

Sandie - I love that phrase, too. God winks. That's really what they are, and I just love the idea that God winks at us. It's just so personal and chummy!

Kathy - Loved the way you put it. Nothing is wasted in GOD'S economy. Indeed. That would include every moment that He chooses to provide a little "YES!" into our lives.

Peggy - You've said many good things here. I liked the definition you gave. Yes, coincidence has the meaning that it is a moment when my heart tuned with God *coincides* with a message from Him. In that moment, we meet. And I loved how you pointed out the book of Esther. A great example of God putting someone right where they belong for "just such a time as this." No coincidence - just God working out His purposes, incident after divine incident.

Nita - Yup, I love that idea, too. ;) (That's my computer wink for the day!)

    GOD BLESS!

"So [I] have been greatly encouraged in the midst of [my] troubles and suffering, dear brothers and sisters, because you have remained strong in your faith. It gives [me] new life to know that you are standing firm in the Lord. How [I] thank God for you!" (1 Thessalonians 3:7-9)
