Yes, my friends, God not only THINKS about us – HE LOVES US!
Let these wonderful words from the book of Psalms wash over you:
“The LORD is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love…He does not punish us for our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve. For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as GREAT AS THE HEIGHT OF THE HEAVENS ABOVE EARTH…For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust…the love of the LORD remains FOREVER with those who love him.”
Yes, looking at the stars in the desert sky gives me new insights about God. The work of His creation in the heavens is awe-inspiring, and it can make us feel insignificant.
However, the same God who paints the sky with stars, is also the One who came to die for us!
He gave His life for us – just because He LOVES us.
And you know what the best news is?
This love is ours FOREVER!
“NO power in the sky above or in the earth below – indeed, NOTHING in all creation will EVER be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord!” (Romans 8:39)
I’d like to share a poem I wrote one night long ago, sitting at a campfire, staring into the beautiful heavens of God.
STAR SHINE
A night full of stars
a million lights
in a sky as dark as ink…
I gaze at them
and feel blessed
by their presence,
yet insignificant –
How can I matter?
I am so small,
my life so fleeting
compared to them,
so very far away…
Somehow though
I feel part of
the great and beautiful sky,
another star
that shines –
For some reason
I feel
they look back at me
and smile –
That somehow
they know
my eyes see,
my heart understands,
that my soul
is connected
to their meaning –
That their Creator
is mine!

I will never look at the stars without thinking about God’s love, His FOREVER love.
And my hope for you today is this – that you will ALWAYS know His deep love within your own heart, and that you will draw closer to the majestic God of the heavens, the Master of the skies, the One who knows the stars by name…
…the “Living One who sees YOU” – and knows YOUR name.
BLOG = “Blessedly Leaning On God!”
Sharon, I loved these two posts about the majesty and greatness of our God...in all the vastness of creation...He sees each of us...knows all about us...and loves us....
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your poem, too...writing under the stars is great inspiration!
Hi Sharon,
ReplyDeleteThanks for including your poem in this post. It blends quite nicely with the topic. I continue to be amazed at the vastness of creation, yet in all of creation, I am valued by God.
Blessings and peace.
MTJ
very inspiring poem, Sharon! and inspiring message too; I think sometimes we tend to forget how much God loves us and how special we are to him, always a good reminder to know how much he loves us indeed!
ReplyDeletebetty
It is amazing how much God loves us! We are so small, and yet, we are not insignificant. Because God cares about us, we have purpose, and that is to live and share His love with others. Thanks for your post!

Sharon,
ReplyDeleteIt is so exciting when God's word pierces right to our heart--answers the very cry of our heart and the questions within. Those are the Scriptures I write on index cards and memorize. For He has touched my life. I am so glad that was your experience when you were in prayer this morning.
Your post is great, directing our attention from the awe-inspiring stars to our Creator. I enjoyed your poem.
Thank you for visiting,
Janis
Karen - He sees, He knows, He loves...What else do we need?!
ReplyDeleteMTJ - To be valued by God is a gift worth more than any treasure on earth!
Betty - I'm glad you liked today's post. It is an amazing thing to be special to God!
Joan - We are small, yes, but NOT insignificant. As you put so well - we have purpose!
Janis - God's Word has been reaching me lately in a powerful way - as you said, He has been touching my life.
Thanks, everyone, for stopping by today. I'm glad you liked the poem. May we never forget that we are "specks of matter"...that MATTER to God!
BLESSINGS TO YOU!
Another beautiful post and anotherh wonderful poem. Have you ever approached a publisher to collect your devotions and poetry in a book? I feel blessed to be able to open this "free of charge" every morning.
ReplyDeleteMy older daughter's favorite verse is "Fear not, for I have redeemed thee. I have called you by name. You are mine."
This post brought that verse to my mind and heart.
This was very encouraging. Everywhere we look, we behold the beauty of His creation.
ReplyDeleteDebbie - Thank you so much, friend. I haven't approached a publisher, but I am extremely touched that you would think that what I write is "publishable." (Is that a word?!) I have totally thought about it - it's hard to get the courage. It's a lifelong dream, for sure, and I am asking God for guidance - how, when, etc. Friends like you help make me feel like it is possible!
ReplyDeleteBTW, tell your daughter (The Practical One, right?!) that I REALLY love that verse, too - something really "Prince Charming" and "living happily ever after" about it - Jesus, the knight in shining armor saying to me, "I have CALLED you BY NAME...You are MINE!"
Wanda - Thanks for dropping by! I love the beauty of God's creation, and that's why I am such a nature lover - the Great Outdoors speaks to me of Him so clearly - maybe because I have the chance to be away from all the distractions!
