SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW

I know You can do anything, and no one can stop You.
You asked, "Who is this that questions My wisdom with such ignorance?"

I won't believe it unless I see the nail wounds in His hands, put my fingers into them, and place my hand into the wound in His side.

It is I - and I was talking about things that I knew nothing about, things far too wonderful for me.

The doors were locked; but suddenly, as before, Jesus was standing among them.

You said, "Listen and I will speak!"

Peace be with you.

Let the Almighty answer me.

Put your finger here, and look at My hands.
Put your hand into the wound in My side.
Don't be faithless any longer.
Believe!

I had only heard about You before, but now I have seen You with my very own eyes.

I take back everything I said...

My Lord and my God!

Sometimes things happen that we just can't understand. Sometimes we doubt that God cares. Sometimes we wonder if He's even there...

Job had questions - Thomas had doubts.

BUT...

Job encountered God in a whirlwind.
Thomas met a risen Christ.

Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity.

You believe because you have seen Me.
Blessed are those who believe without seeing Me.

I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!

You love Him even though you have never seen Him.
Though you do not see Him now, you trust Him.

And you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy.

  1. I'm going on a scripture hunt to find the one about "taking back everything I said."

BTW, I'm out of town visiting my mother-in-law and trying to borrow a very antiquated computer.

Good grief! I didn't realize how spoiled I was in Laptop & Wireless Land. I think I should do a whole blog post about it.

Fortunately, things will be back to "normal" soon. I have a million blog posts started in my head. Hope you had a great Christmas!

  6. Hi Sharon,

Thanks for that wonderful post. We all have questions and doubts about God and His ways sometimes as we navigate through the rocky places in our lives. But as you've pointed out from scripture, Jesus has an answer for us when we doubt and have questions about His love, goodness, and compassion toward us. God is so good.

I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas and are planning a great New Year celebration.

    Blessings,
    Judy

  8. Debbie - I'VE MISSED YOU!! We had a nice Christmas, and I hope you did too! (I'll be a friend and NOT mention the birthday...49...just sayin'). Definitely post about the computer stuff. I know you would put just the right spin on it. I still can't believe that just a short 7 months ago I was on a 12-year-old computer with dial-up! Can you say Jurassic - I knew you could! Can't wait for your new frivolities in 2011. (Hint: It's in the Old Testament)

Denise - I'VE MISSED YOU, TOO! I'm always glad to have you visit! Sounds like your family has been BUSY - but I trust you all had a nice Christmas. Mine was also nice. Thanks for the thoughtful comment about all my Christmas blogging "stuff." I had fun doing it - and I'm glad you liked the poem. It always means a lot when people enjoy them.

Andrea - Thanks for stopping by! I am having a good week - resting a little bit from the hectic pace of last week! Hope you are too! Looking forward to 2011. Wishing you a Happy New Year!

Janet - Thanks! Your comment pretty much sums up my goal for 2011! That God will move IN me and THROUGH me! What else could be better?!

Sandie - HELLO, friend! Thanks for stopping by. I know you had to "hobble" on over here, too - so I appreciate the effort! :) Seriously, been praying for you. Wishing you strength as you tackle your physical therapy!

Judy - I loved your comment. It's true, we all have questions and doubts. But what occurs to me is this - the question is not WHY, but WHO - the Answer is not words, but THE Word. Jesus is the ultimate Answer to every doubt and question, and His Presence is enough...

Sarah - Thanks so much. Looking forward to seeing what God does in 2011 - for both of us! I have an idea that He has BIG plans, full of His goodness and guidance, full of His wisdom and love!

Trust all of you had a wonderful Christmas. No big plans for New Year's - but will definitely be giving "The Hub" a big kiss at midnight! Stop by when you get a chance. If I don't talk to any of you before - have a very Happy New Year - and know that God is going to be working in ALL of our lives in the coming year!

    GOD BLESS!

  11. Hi Sharon -

Thank you. It does my heart good to know that you missed me...I missed you, as well. That is one reason that I went out on Saturday morning and got, at least, something to you for a couple of your posts.

They fixed my lines today. I will answer the comments on my blog later this week...catching up...

    Thank you for praying...

"So [I] have been greatly encouraged in the midst of [my] troubles and suffering, dear brothers and sisters, because you have remained strong in your faith. It gives [me] new life to know that you are standing firm in the Lord. How [I] thank God for you!" (1 Thessalonians 3:7-9)

Thanks for your comments - it is such a joy to be sharing my journey with friends like YOU!
