Welcome to "Fan the Flame" Friday.
This is a weekly post that will be "short and sweet" (kinda like me...)
Just a word and a phrase, a sentence or a question...just a little something to "fan the flame" of your creativity!
Today's word: eternity
What comes to mind when you think about the word eternity?
Does the concept of eternity thrill you or scare you?
Let me know what you think!!
"This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you…For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline." (2 Timothy 1:6-7)
BLOG = "Blessedly Leaning On God!"
I love the constant nature of eternity. I think we all have had blissful periods of our lives, or maybe just blissful moments when we wished it would last "forever". I think that state of perpetual bliss is what best defines eternity for me. I will finally look into HIS face, and just as I'm thinking that I want to capture that moment and make it last forever, I will realize that it will.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't scare me. It thrills me.
Hi Sharon -
ReplyDeleteEternity to me means that all of GOD's children will be forever immersed in His awesome glory and we shall be like Him. Glory Hallelujah!
It also delightfully means that all of us walking with JESUS bloggers will be in the same locale - no longer separated by distance. Do you think, Sharon, that there is a blog room in heaven?
Note: 7UPS QUIZUPS #9 was posted on my blog today under the separate tab, "7 UPS QUIZUPS."
I think lioneagle's answer is perfect
ReplyDeleteand I agree. A blog room in heaven?
Now that's a sweet thought!
It thrills me too. To see Jesus, and to KNOW that we are in our forever home... WOW! I have a lot of dear ones who are already there, and it will be such a reunion!
ReplyDeleteHaving said that... I am still very much in this life, and I love it here, but I sure want to make my days count for eternity. Like my dad used to say..."Oh to be known at the throne.".. I want Jesus to smile when He sees me, so my here and now is what will make that happen. :)
Eternity is forever - of course. But isn't it hard to think of how long that is - I mean the years on earth feel long sometimes and it is hard to think of even longer - sometimes anyway.
ReplyDeleteLove,
sandie
This past week, the oldest living person in the world passed away at the age of 114. She lived in a town not far from here. In her memorial service, it was mentioned the fact that she had lived in three centuries and that was a long time. However, because this precious lady knew Jesus, her life on earth was miniscule compared to eternity.
ReplyDeleteWhile it's hard to fathom forever...never ending...eternity in our finite minds, eternity is enternity. No more death, no more sorrow, no more pain. Just being with Jesus forever and ever.
Debbie - What a wonderful picture of Heaven! C.S. Lewis said something about Heaven being like waking up and realizing that it's the first day of summer vacation - and that school is over forever!! (My paraphrase - and hope the teacher in you isn't offended!) I agree - is there any greater thrill than looking into the face of Jesus? I think not!
ReplyDeleteSandra - Forever immersed in God's glory. That was downright poetic, my friend! Loved it. YES, I think there will be a blog room in Heaven. I have a feeling God's going to say something like, "OK, all My beloved yakkers, gather over here...you've got an "eternity" to talk to your heart's content." And you know what? We'll STILL be talking about HIM!! Praise God!
Sandy - A blog room in Heaven - definitely sign me up. Maybe God will have a blog, and we can spend our days just leaving Him comments about how AWESOME He is!!
Sonja - I loved your comment - it would actually make a wonderful post!! How I love your dad's saying! I can't imagine anything better than being told, "Well done, good and faithful servant" by the King! And you're right, the work starts here - making our days count.
Sandie - Yup, I get it. Eternity seems impossible to comprehend. It excites me, though - because I cannot imagine what it's going to feel like to be free of sadness, sin, pain, death - just plain FREE - forever!!
Joan - I was reminded of the Scripture where David asks God to teach him to number his days. Even our longest lives are but a breath, a flower that fades. Only through the gift of Jesus, are we given LIFE! It's such a wonderful HOPE, isn't it?
GOD BLESS, my dear friends - and I can't wait to spend eternity with all of you!!
