SATURDAY STROLL

Welcome to "SATURDAY STROLL!"

In these posts I will be interacting with Scripture – making it a conversational walk of faith.

Sometimes we'll be talking with Jesus, sometimes God will be talking with us.

There might even be *guest appearances* by some of our beloved characters from the Bible!

So put on your walking shoes – you know we can all use the exercise!

Lord, I've been so nervous lately. So tired. So confused.

David said it best:

My God, my God, why have You abandoned me?
Why are You so far away when I groan for help?

Yes, Lord – why do You seem hidden when I need to see You the most?

Every day I call to You, my God, but You do not answer.
Every night You hear my voice, but I find no relief.

Yes, Lord – why do You seem silent when I need to hear You the most?

Do not stay so far from me, for trouble is near, and no one else can help me.

Lord, You are the only One who can save me.
For You are greater than the enemy who is in the world.

My life is poured out like water.

I feel like my energy has drained out of me.

And all my bones are out of joint.

Lord, sometimes I am so worn out that I literally ache.

My heart is like wax, melting within me.

Oh, that sounds just like the worrying fear I have.
The debilitating rush of adrenaline that won't stop.

My strength has dried up like sunbaked clay.

I am weakened by all of this. Shaky, trembly.

My tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth.

Yes, stress makes my mouth dry.

My enemies surround me like a pack of dogs.

Make that a pack of hyenas, Lord, and you get the picture.

They have pierced my hands and feet.

Wait a second, that sounds familiar.

My enemies stare at me and gloat.

Oh Lord, I hear their taunting. They're taunting…oh my goodness…they are taunting YOU!

They divide my garments among themselves and throw dice for my clothing.

Yes, Lord, it is You! You have entered into my pain with Yours.

Yes, that is what I do best.
I understand your weaknesses because of what I suffered.

I. GET. IT.

Dear Jesus, You have been my God from the moment I was born.

I have.

I will proclaim Your name to everyone.
I will praise You, and honor You.
I will show You reverence.

For You have NOT ignored or belittled my suffering.
You have NOT turned Your back on me.

You have listened to my cries.

Yes, every single one – I am always listening.
And I will never leave you nor forsake you.

You are my Shepherd – You are all that I need.

I AM.

  1. Hi Sharon,

You do this so well, thank you for sharing in this way.

I was only saying on Wednesday, we say we want to follow Jesus, be just like Him, but do we realise, that includes, sharing his suffering.

We will never be called to suffer as he did for us, but suffer we will, what a comfort to know he is walking beside us, behind and in front of us.

  2. It seems like I've had that very stroll. So much of it speaks to me when I'm in the middle of something that I think NOBODY understands. Then, I realize that I serve a God who literally became flesh so that He would understand it all better than I can even describe.

    Great one, Sharon.

"So [I] have been greatly encouraged in the midst of [my] troubles and suffering, dear brothers and sisters, because you have remained strong in your faith. It gives [me] new life to know that you are standing firm in the Lord. How [I] thank God for you!" (1 Thessalonians 3:7-9)

Thanks for your comments - it is such a joy to be sharing my journey with friends like YOU!
