Welcome to "Fan the Flame" Friday.
This is a weekly post that will be "short and sweet" (kinda like me...)
Just a word and a phrase, a sentence or a question...just a little something to "fan the flame" of your creativity!
Today's word: connected
What makes you feel connected to others?
What makes you feel connected to God?
What are the dangers of being UN-connected?
Let me know what you think!!
And...as if I wasn't facing enough changes right now, Blogger has changed their *COMMENT* format - Instead of showing 0 comments before anyone comments, they show NO COMMENTS. I find this very deceptive -
Rest assured, I have my comments OPEN, and cherish your input!
(NOTE: If you're interested, I'll share my thoughts over the weekend! After all, I need to fan my own flame!)
"This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you…For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline." (2 Timothy 1:6-7)
BLOG = "Blessedly Leaning On God!"
Usually I have something coming right of the top of my brain, but I shall ponder a while longer on this weeks word.
ReplyDeleteAs for the No Comments, I see what you mean on yours, since I'm the first to comment. BUT, I went and checked my latest blog out, which nobody has commented on as of yet, and I still have the old format. I hadn't thought of it being deceptive, till you pointed that out too. I can see now a lot of people may just get tricked up by the newest format. Hope mine doesn't change.
Love to you Sharon!
When I think connected I think relationship. How do you nuture or stay in relationship...you spend time with that person, you get to know them, you become more outwardly focused less inwardly focused.
ReplyDeleteWhat helps me stay connected to God is applying the above, spending time with him through his word and prayer, spending time with like minded folks who can help point me to the gospelwhen I so easily forget
The danger of being dissconnected...well then it becomes all about me...never a good thing :)
The word connected brings to mind relationship. To be connected is the opposite of being alone. While I know that God is with all the time, I feel most connected to Him in the early morning hours as behold the wonder of his creation.
ReplyDeleteSomething to consider: the dangers of being unconnected...to God and to others. Thank you for these thought.
ReplyDeleteConnected is a life giving word if used for the good, like being connected to the Lord and His people but on the other hand if we're connected to something not good, well the Bible says we'll meet up with disaster. That's my paraphrase.
ReplyDeleteConnected, joined at the hip. Love being connected to my Saviour.
ReplyDeleteBeing connected is life giving...With God that's an absolute,...it's like a plug in a socket....it's what activates the light in me and turns it on.
ReplyDeleteConnected with others....I believe we can be connected in good and bad ways to others. The light in me connects to the light in them and the light in me sometimes gives me a faulty connection to the darkness in them...it's when the problems start and one more connection....the one to myself....there was a time I wasn't connected to me...that's an awful thing....b/c then your looking for an outside connection. Just some thoughts. Have a super weekend Sharon...hope the move thing is going better
Everybody needs to feel like they are connected. Being connected to God is the very best connection, but it is vitally important to feel connected to other people as well. I hadn't noted the no comments things. Blogger has made a lot of changes. It's hard to change the Navbar now. I had to switch back to the old format to change it when I changed my background.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Charlotte
Great fan the flame, Sharon. I'm sorry I missed it.
ReplyDeleteIronically... Providentially? It's because I have been willfully UNconnected. There's no good reason for it beyond the fact that some schtuff happened in my world, and I just withdrew from Blog Land.
I do that to God, too. Sometimes, instead of running TO him, I withdraw into a sad state called Debbie Land. It's lonely there, and just exactly like it is when I withdraw from the computer, I always feel so much better after reconnecting and wonder why I embarked on the Big Pout to begin with.
What makes you feel connected to others?
ReplyDeleteConversation. I have realized even more lately how much I need and thrive on words - on the ability to communicate with people. I feel connected when my heart reaches out to someone, and they reach back. Connection is understanding.
What makes you feel connected to God?
Mostly I feel connected to God when I am reading His Word. I *hear* Him through those timeless Scriptures. I also feel connected in church - singing, learning, pondering. I feel connected in prayer - when I'm just talking to Him. And, of course, I feel very close to God when I am spending time in His beautiful creation.
What are the dangers of being UN-connected?
I got to thinking the other day about the animal kingdom. I'm sure we've all watched those documentaries where they show predators hunting their prey. Do you notice how often the predator works to isolate his prey from the rest of the herd? A lone animal is an easy target. This is how our enemy works, too. He often seeks to remove us from fellowship - to isolate us from other believers. My worst mistakes in my life happened when I wasn't going to church - when I was out of touch with other believers.
Our enemy also acutely understands the dangers of being un-connected from God. We truly have no hope when we lose that connection. Our souls are bound to the Lord, and when we ignore that connection, or walk away from it, we are never more vulnerable to the lies and deceptions of that old prowling lion, Satan.
The dangers of being UN-connected - to others and to God - are many.
So, STAY IN TOUCH!! :)
I will work to solve my internet connection problems next week - I miss you all very much!
GOD BLESS!
