AND NOW THE LORD SPEAKS

Lord, I get so tired…

In my weariness, I cry out to You.

Lord, do You even hear me?

And now the LORD speaks – the One who formed me to be His servant, who commissioned me…

He says –

"I will make you a light, and you will bring salvation to the ends of the earth.

At just the right time, I will respond to you.
On the day of salvation I will help you.
I will protect you.

Come out into freedom.
Come out into the light.

You will be My sheep, grazing in green pastures.
You will neither hunger nor thirst.
The searing sun will not reach you anymore.

For in My mercy I will lead you.

I will lead you beside cool waters.
I will make your mountains into level paths for you.
I will make high ways above the valleys.

I will comfort you and have compassion on you in your suffering.

I have written your name on the palms of My hands.

I will not forget you!

I will fight those who fight you.

I will teach you how to comfort the weary.
I will open your understanding to My will.
I will give you My words of wisdom."

And I respond –

"Because the Sovereign LORD helps me, I will not be disgraced.
I will set my face like a stone, determined to do His will.
And I know that I will not be put to shame.

All my enemies will be destroyed.
The Sovereign LORD is on my side!

HE IS NEAR."

The LORD has honored me, and my God has given me strength.

(Words taken from Isaiah 49 and 50)

  1. Hi Sharon,
Thank you for your visits to my blog place, and the kind comments.

This post is so refreshing. There is nothing that refreshes one's heart like the word the God speaks. So direct, so timely, and so appropriate.

I also want to respond the way you do - to set my face like a flint and do as He says.

As I have not been to your blog for a while, I did take time to read your previous posts, just so I can catch up with what you have written.

God will never leave you, nor forsake you.

Blessings on your day, dear friend.

  2. Praise God! I love His word through the Psalms. They are always an encouragement to me for they seem to so often be exactly what I'm feeling.

    Blessings to you, Sharon!

  3. This year while reading through the Bible I am underlining every time God says, "I WILL" and look how many times it is in this word today. He has pressed upon me all the "I Wills" that He has said and done, most have nothing to do with a reaction to what I have or have not done.
What an awesome God that He will take care of us no matter what...it is His will.

  5. This is a wonderful one. I'm glad I got in the door to read it. I'm currently in the husband's office since he came home midweek. (Yahooooo for that)

Anyway, loved it and think I know from whence it came to you. I also liked Janette's comment above about underlining the I Wills in the Bible.

    Sent you an email...

  6. My goodness Sharon - I had no idea there were that many I wills in the Bible. That's wonderful - I am going to be more aware.

Do you have a button? I didn't see one - but boy - you sure do a LOT of work on your blog - I didn't realize that either.

  7. I love how you do this, Sharon; it does make Scripture come alive (which is already alive as you know, but it does emphasize it so much). We need to learn how to read Scripture this way and to pray like this to fully know exactly who God is and how he is our help and sustainer and provider in everything we go through in our lives

  9. His word is just full of all He has done
and will continue to do for us! Thanks
for a wonderful and encouraging word today.
Think I'll start underlining all the I WILL's
    like Janette said.
    Shalom!

  12. Lidj - So good to have you stop by! Yes, I am doing my best to set my face like flint - My word for this year is DETERMINED. That's what I want to be - singleminded in my pursuit of God.

Joan - God's Word always seems to provide JUST what I need, JUST when I need it!! His timing is always perfect - and yes, I agree, it's always encouraging!

Janette - Oh yes! I really like what you said. I think your idea of looking for the "I will's" is a great idea. I'm going to start paying more attention to them myself. It is so reassuring that God cares - and that what He wills, He will do!

Andrea - Visited your blog, and will be praying. May God bring healing and comfort to your friend.

Debbie - WOO HOO for the hubby arrival! Yup, I loved Janette's idea, too. Somehow I just take for granted all God's "I will's" - and they're really such great promises. And yes, you guess correctly - I definitely have a "theme" going this week, don't I? (Got your email - give me a few days to respond - out of town guests...)

Sandie - No, I don't have a button. You know why? I don't know how to make one. If anyone's reading these comments and can give me a SIMPLE tutorial - sure would appreciate it. And thank you for noticing the work I do on the sidebar!

    Keep going - I haven't forgotten you!!

  13. Betty - Doing these Wednesday posts based on God's Word has really made things so personal for me. And that is exactly what I think God wants - a very PERSONAL relationship! Our help, provider, and sustainer - He's so good to us.

Charlotte - Thanks so much. God's Word is full of such comfort. Sometimes I just find myself running to it just so I can feel His peace!

Sandy - I loved Janette's idea. God's Word is full of one story after another that tells about His faithfulness. He does what He promises - and He WILL continue to do so!

Joan - What a very thoughtful thing to say. Thank you. I'm usually hearing what God wants me to hear when I write - and so, He also speaks to me, just when I need it!

Ken - Thank you. I'm so glad that you enjoyed this. I can write no better words than those in the Word itself!

    GOD BLESS!

  14. Sharon -

Thank you so much for this flaming confirmation piece!

Today our Lord led me here after, this a.m., I had an episode that makes me appreciate, in earnest, what you have stated here.

Especially fitting is this that you expressed,
    "I will protect you.

"I will fight those who fight you"

Also, our Lord gave me today Genesis 12:3 - KJV
"And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee:..."

Oh! Glory - our Lord blazes, He smokes, He thunders, He protects, He defends...

And we serve a mountain-smoking GOD.

    Exodus 20:18 - KJV
And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed and stood afar off.

THANK YOU, HOLY FATHER GOD, FOR YOUR LOVE AND ALL THAT YOU ARE AND REPRESENT!

  15. Sandra - A mountain-smoking God!! I love it! As always, you have shared wonderful Scriptures! Yes, we serve an awesome God - He is glorious, and powerful, and sure to defend those He loves!

    GOD BLESS!

"So [I] have been greatly encouraged in the midst of [my] troubles and suffering, dear brothers and sisters, because you have remained strong in your faith. It gives [me] new life to know that you are standing firm in the Lord. How [I] thank God for you!" (1 Thessalonians 3:7-9)

Thanks for your comments - it is such a joy to be sharing my journey with friends like YOU!
