SATURDAY STROLL - I'm a Believer...

Welcome to "SATURDAY STROLL!"

In these posts I will be interacting with Scripture – making it a conversational walk of faith.

Sometimes we'll be talking with Jesus, sometimes God will be talking with us.

There might even be *guest appearances* by some of our beloved characters from the Bible!

So put on your walking shoes – you know we can all use the exercise!

FOLLOW ME

They replied, "We want to perform God's works, too.  What should we do?”

Jesus told them, "This is the only work God wants from you.  Believe in the one he has sent."

Lord, it sounds so easy – just believe.

But sometimes believing is the hardest thing to do.  Sometimes I feel like the disciples did on the boat in the middle of the storm…

"Teacher, don't you care that I'm going to drown?"

And yet, Your answer to me is just the same as it was to them, isn't it?

Why are you afraid?

Do you still have no faith?

Lord, I do believe.  Help me to overcome my unbelief.

I want to serve You, Lord.  I want to perform God's work.

Teach me how to become more than just a believer – show me how to be a disciple.

I will follow You wherever You go.

(Selections from Mark and Luke)

In what ways are you becoming a disciple of Jesus?

  2. Hi Sharon,

Not quite sure what my answer is to your question. But I am trying live by his standards and to share my faith more and speak more freely of prayer etc. Life is not easy at the moment, I know it isn't for you either. Do hope your move goes well and that you settle quickly. Be blessed and keep being a blessing.

  3. Our walk with God is a two way street. We usually want to do all the talking, but we often simply need to listen. You have posted some excellent thoughts here. "Teach me how to become more than just a believer."

  4. Excellent food for thought this morning! It is not easy to listen sometimes - for some reason, we always think we need to fill up the quiet spaces!

"So [I] have been greatly encouraged in the midst of [my] troubles and suffering, dear brothers and sisters, because you have remained strong in your faith. It gives [me] new life to know that you are standing firm in the Lord. How [I] thank God for you!" (1 Thessalonians 3:7-9)

Thanks for your comments - it is such a joy to be sharing my journey with friends like YOU!
