HEY JUDE

Greetings from Jude!

I am writing to all who have been called by God the Father, who loves you and keeps you safe in the care of Jesus Christ.

May God give you more and more mercy, peace, and love.

You know, I was planning to write you about something else. But now I find that the Spirit has laid this heavy upon my heart.

I feel I must urge you to defend the faith that God has entrusted once for all time to His holy people.

I say this because some ungodly people have wormed their way into your churches! They are saying that God's marvelous grace allows us to live immoral lives.

Their condemnation was recorded long ago, for they have denied our ONLY Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

I know that you already know these things. But I want to remind you.

Jesus first rescued the nation of Israel from Egypt, but later He destroyed those who did not remain faithful.

And I remind you of the angels who did not stay within the limits of authority God gave them - but left the place where they belonged. God has kept them securely chained in prisons of darkness, waiting for the great day of judgment.

And don't forget Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring towns. Those cities were destroyed by fire and serve as a warning of the eternal fire of God's judgment.

In the same way, these people are like this. They claim authority from their dreams. They live immoral lives, defy authority, and scoff at supernatural beings. But these people scoff at what they do not understand.

Like animals, they do whatever their instincts tell them. They deceive people for money. They will perish in their rebellion.

You need to be aware.

These people are like dangerous reefs that can shipwreck you.
They are like shameless shepherds who care only for themselves.
They are like clouds blowing over the land without giving rain.
They are like trees in autumn that are doubly dead, for they bear no fruit and have been pulled up by the roots.
They are like wild waves of the sea, churning up the foam of their shameful deeds.
They are like wandering stars, doomed forever to blackest darkness.

Even Enoch, who lived in the 7th generation after Adam, prophesied about these people!

They are grumblers and complainers, living only to satisfy their desires. They brag loudly about themselves, and they flatter others to get what they want.

But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life.

In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God's love.

Show mercy to those whose faith is wavering.
Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment.

Hey, thanks for listening.

Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and who will bring you with great joy into his glorious presence without a single fault.

All glory to him who alone is God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord.

All glory, majesty, power, and authority are His before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time!

AMEN!!

Jude, a slave of Jesus Christ.

  3. "All glory to God who is able to keep me from falling and present me before His glorious presence blameless and without stain." That was one of my favorite verses in some of my darkest days. I think I need to whip it out again on an index card.

    Thanks for the reminder, Sharon.

    Blessings,
    Janis

  4. "Hey Jude... don't make it bad, take a sad song and make it better...remember to let 'this Word' into your heart...then you can start to make it BETTER... Hey JUDE...don't be afraid... don't carry the world upon your shoulders...don't let me down... so let it out and let it in...Hey Jude BEGIN...you're waiting for someone to perform with

Blessings Sharon...couldn't help myself.Jude- such a short book packing a mighty punch. Ohh someone else said that too... and I thought I was being unique...So, it's a common fact that Jude had much to share that here is the POWER:

"But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life."

Thanks Sharon for giving God His glory for keeping us from falling. Holding on...

  5. I'm soooo ferhoodled with my blog reading that I don't know if I'm coming or going. I almost missed the Wednesday scripture post.

I love the book of Jude. It's so rich and powerful and pertinent. My husband is in the middle of a unit on it with his class, and I get the samplings.

    Beautiful job, as usual, Sharon.

  6. Janette - You're welcome!!

Sandie - Always glad to have you stop by!!

Betty - They were mighty words indeed! I guess I'd never realized how very *timely* they are. "You need to be aware" - doesn't that apply so aptly in today's world?

Janis - You're welcome. It's a glorious promise, isn't it? HE IS ABLE - how that encourages me, too.

Peggy - A mighty punch indeed! And such good advice - build each other up, pray in power, await mercy, and keep looking toward eternity!

Debbie - Thanks, friend. I just love knowing that this mighty little book was written by one of Jesus' half-brothers. One of the brothers who didn't believe, until Jesus rose from the dead. To me, it just gives extra weight to what he has to say. (Ferhoodled - your word or spam blocker? I love it...)

    GOD BLESS!

"So [I] have been greatly encouraged in the midst of [my] troubles and suffering, dear brothers and sisters, because you have remained strong in your faith. It gives [me] new life to know that you are standing firm in the Lord. How [I] thank God for you!" (1 Thessalonians 3:7-9)

Thanks for your comments - it is such a joy to be sharing my journey with friends like YOU!
