THE GOOD SHEPHERD

For this is what the Sovereign LORD says:

I Myself will search and find My sheep.
I will be like a Shepherd looking for His scattered flock.
I will find My sheep and rescue them from all the places where they are scattered.

I will bring them back home.

I will feed them on the mountains and by the rivers.
Yes, I will give them good pastureland.
There they will lie down in pleasant places.

I myself will tend My sheep.
I will give them a place to lie down in peace.

I will search for My lost ones who strayed away.
I will bring them safely home again.

I will rescue My flock.
They will no longer be abused.
I will end their captivity.

I will have mercy on them.

I will leave none of My sheep behind.
I will never turn My face from them.

I will give them all they need.
I will renew their strength.
I will guide them along right paths.

I will be close beside them in the darkest valleys.

I will pour out overflowing blessings.

I will pursue them with My goodness and unfailing love.
I will lead them, and walk ahead of them.
I will be with them always.

I know My own sheep.
I call them by name.

They listen to My voice.

And they know Me.

They will live with Me forever.

"All of us, like sheep, have strayed away...Yet the LORD laid on [Jesus] the sins of us all...He was led like a lamb to the slaughter...he was struck down for the rebellion of [the] people...And because of his experience, [Jesus made] it possible for many to be counted righteous, for he will bear their sins."

(From Ezekiel 34 and 39, Psalm 23, John 10, and Isaiah 53)

  1. As I read this Sharon, my eyes were drawn to all the verbs. Our God is a active God. Is He not. I'm grateful for a God that will pursue us.

  2. I love that comment above about God being an active God.

Search, find, bring, feed, give, tend, rescue, end, renew, guide, pour out, pursue, lead...

It makes me want to craft a Bible study lesson of the verbs and their rich meanings.

And then, I got to the next one:
    I will BE.

And yet again, I was reminded that my God is such an awesome God. He allows us to see Him in the "I DO" yet reminds us by His very name that He is simply and actually our I AM.

  4. Blessings Sharon and the Good Shepherd be with you and lead you to safe and green pastures of peace and rest! Still waters! That's my home town...(Stillwater)! Love this and my Shepherd!

Are these all the scriptures on sheep and the Shepherd or just chosen ones by you?

May we be in TUNE and LISTEN attentively as Our Shepherd does with us! Thank you for the lesson on VERBS of Our God that ACTS and lives with us.

    Peace and JOY,

  5. Oh that He would leave the ninety nine and persue the one lost sheep. Where would we be without the Good Shepherd?

    Great post, Sharon.

  6. Hi Sharon -

Blogger wouldn't let me log in to comment on your blog so I came on as Anonymous.

Psalm 23 is one of my absolute favorites. Yesterday, someone read it in noon day prayer.

Today, in particular, this captured my spirit,
    "I know My own sheep.
    I call them by name.

    "They listen to My voice.

    "And they know Me.

"They will live with Me forever."

Such joy - Oh! such joy, Sharon.

    Exodus 33:17 - KJV
And the Lord said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.

Hallelujah - Praise GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY - HE REIGNS AND RULES FOREVER!

Note: Blogger has me as Anonymous but GLORY TO GOD - HE knows my name.

I suspect this blogger "glitch" is "Satan envy" because we glorify and praise our Lord with joy and gladness, and the awareness that only GOD is most High!

    John 16:22 - KJV
...and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.

    The Acts 19:15 - KJV
And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know;...

Satan knows us, too, Sharon, as he does all of GOD's holy children. Thus "Satan envy..."

Oh! the blessed joy of our Lord!!!

    The Acts 20:24 - KJV
But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy,...

  7. Hi Sharon -

I forgot to mention that "Anonymous" directly above is Sandra, whose name our Lord clearly knows as He does all names - even those of Satan's children.

The children of the devil need consistent prayer and love for they have no peace.

    Isaiah 57:21 - KJV
There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

  8. To all of you who thoughtfully commented on this post, thank you.

Blogger had quite a few issues over the last few days, and it's been quite frustrating to deal with them (as you all know, too).

However, God's Word will not be stopped. We will continue to boldly proclaim His Good News!

He is active - the great I AM - and we will serve Him with everything we've got.

Thanks again, friends - I had a chance to read your comments before they were all wiped out, and I appreciated every single one!

    GOD BLESS!

"So [I] have been greatly encouraged in the midst of [my] troubles and suffering, dear brothers and sisters, because you have remained strong in your faith. It gives [me] new life to know that you are standing firm in the Lord. How [I] thank God for you!" (1 Thessalonians 3:7-9)

Thanks for your comments - it is such a joy to be sharing my journey with friends like YOU!
