Welcome to "Fan the Flame" Friday.
This is a weekly post that will be "short and sweet" (kinda like me...)
Just a word and a question or two...just a little something to "fan the flame" of your creativity!
Today's word: Heaven
What do you picture in your mind's eye when you hear the word Heaven?
What are you looking forward to the most?
Let me know what you think!!
“This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you…For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” (2 Timothy 1:6-7)
BLOG = "Blessedly Leaning On God!"
Hi Sharon,
ReplyDeleteThough I feel inadequate to describe heaven accurately, I think of peace; a place where the lion and the lamb co-exist.
As a young boy, I remember a portrait of the Last Supper which hung on the wall in our apartment, but what I vividly remember is that behind them (Jesus and His disciples) was a window revealing a blue sky and a billowing white cloud. As a boy, the thought of being in the clouds with Jesus and His disciples, away from all the confusion, sadness, and pain gave me much comfort.
Although it would be years later before I asked Jesus to save me, the scriptures declared to me that, "having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ"
Knowing I have peace with God has had a calming effect on my life.
Blessings and peace to you and family.

Dear MTJ,
ReplyDeleteI think what I most look forward to (besides being in the Presence of the Lord!!) is the concept of REST. He will bring us into an eternity free from all the troubles of the world - we will finally be able to REST!
And as you pointed out, this rest is only possible because we have PEACE with God. I agree with you, this thought brings a calming effect - sometimes the only calm that can be found in the middle of the storm...
I loved your image of the "Last Supper" portrait. Today I am going to focus on the blue sky and billowing white cloud - the Promised Land of Heaven that awaits us - far beyond these "shadowlands!"
I am so glad you left a comment on my blog(Photo of Boston Terriers) so that I could find you. I love everything I have seen here...your profile could be mine...talk about transitions...we too are empty nesters. For 21 years my husband was in the IT business. The company was sold, many lost their jobs. After 3 years of unemployment, we are growers for the green roof industry. Most of the time I feel like Lisa Douglas from Green Acres, except I never wear dresses. I'm following you now and look forward to reading more. Love the Bible Pick'ems too!
ReplyDeleteAnita,
ReplyDeleteIt is MY distinct pleasure to have found you! I love your pictures - they truly do speak a "thousand words."
I am so sorry for the "forced" transition that you and your husband have had to face. Change is so difficult because it unsettles us - and forces us into "unknown territory" - TRUST is a lot easier when we seem to have "everything under control." I praise God, though, that He promises to be with us, to go ahead of us - that EACH of our days has been planned by His providence.
So, onward and upward...YES!
Welcome to my blog - and thank you for following me - I look forward to following and enjoying yours - and I'm thankful for another friend in the Lord!
GOD BLESS!
When I think of heaven...I imagine a great light...and seeing Jesus face to face...the glory of the Lord...filling my heart to the bursting point...and it all being...everlasting...whew...what a time...
ReplyDeleteThe thing I am most looking forward to is bowing at His nailed scarred feet....
Oh, Karen - me too!!
ReplyDeleteGod bless you, have a great weekend!
oh oh oh !! I love Karen's comment. Beautifully written and I say amen!
ReplyDeleteI also look forward to seeing my Saviour, face to face, lost loved ones (especially 2 babies I never got to hold), and lastly, finally knowing the fullness of the truth to all the things Christians squabble over. You know the ones I mean lol.
Yes, I do!
ReplyDeleteAmanda, could I have the privilege of holding your babies, too?!
What a reunion we're all going to have...amen? AMEN!!
found your blog through the Old Geezer blog; I'm east of you in the Temecula Valley :)
ReplyDeleteheaven to me is Jesus. seeing him and being with him every day for all of eternity. I long for that day :)
betty
Welcome, Betty!!
ReplyDeleteI agree - I can't imagine what it will be like to see the face of Jesus and be in His presence FOREVER! HEAVEN, indeed!
The picture of your corgi is adorable! Right now, I'm baby-sitting my sons' 3 year old beagle. He has the same coloring as your dog! Next week I'm doing three posts about what he has taught me about God. Hope you'll join me!
GOD BLESS!
